Shiwa Ng’andu estate is without a doubt one of the most fascinating and unique destinations in Zambia. It’s an English manor house, set on the Shiwa Ng’andu estate, complete with red-brick gatehouse, clay-tiled roofed workers’ cottages, a long approach avenue, formal gardens, a lake, and even its own chapel. The house is an extraordinary testament to the determination of its founder, Sir Stewart Gore-Browne, and is filled with memorabilia and historical records. The Manor House was built in 1925 by Sir Stewart Gore-Brown, following his extensive travels through Africa.
Shiwa is located in the Northernmost part of Zambia amongst the rolling granite hills that form the tail end of the Great Rift Valley, an area of unsurpassed natural beauty, the “Real Africa”. At Shiwa an intricate and mesmerising African history, both Ancient and Colonial delights and intrugues both past and future guests to the estate. The estate combines this rich and varied history with a world class private game reserve that is home to over thirty species of wildlife and over two-hundred species of birds. The wildlife reserve covers an area of twenty-two thousand acres of breathtaking terrain and boasts a large natural lake at it’s center, one of the largest privately owned bodies of water in Africa.
Kapishya is a quiet secluded Lodge just off the Great North Road, situated on the Estate of Shiwa Ngandu(The Africa House) and is set along the banks of the Mansha River.
The main attraction of Kapishya is its natural, sulphur-free hot springs.
The Hot Springs are an idyllic spot to spend your time relaxing in the natural, sulphur free water. These natural Springs are fed by three cold water springs which permeate down 6-7 kilometres to be super heated and then forced back to the surface dropping 10oc with every kilometre, so ending up on the surface at a luxurious 41oc. As your feet sink into the soft white sand, you can forget about the stresses of the outside world and truly relax.
